The Day Slot Car Racing Came to Dunstable Library

On Saturday Dunstable Library was the venue for a Car Rally! The event was organised as part of a programme by Bedfordshire Libraries to diversify the use of its library buildings, and increase footfall.

A track was laid down on the upper floor of the building running under bookshelves and across shelving corridors. Cameras were mounted on top of the vehicles and drivers sat at video screens to watch how they controlled them.

Entry was free.

Local people used the half-term period to go to sessions at the library and create their own slot-car. Chris Charman, from Houghton Regis, was one of those taking part.
